Vapour control layers are sheets of material that prevent water vapour from accumulating in the structure of a building by creating a vapour barrier. When water vapour builds up in properties it can lead to the development of dampness, mould and rot, which can cause both structural and health issues.

VCL membranes work by preventing water from condensing and forming surface water. Typically installed on the warm side of the insulation, the VCL blocks warm, moist air from entering the roof space. When used in conjunction with good ventilation and the installation of an exterior breather membrane, moisture particles are free to escape from the inside, while adverse weather is prevented from entering.

Protect BarriAir with integrated lap and sealing tapes is a high performance, multi-purpose and coated non-woven membrane which forms a highly effective air leakage barrier with vapour control qualities.

• Suitable for timber frame, pre-cast concrete and traditional brick and block construction.
